Apart from working with players from Australia's National Cricket Academy and a touring Australia `A' side in the city last year, the former India batsman had also been part of the Australian team during the World T20.

The 40-year-old is presently the assistant coach of the Delhi Daredevils side in the IPL.

A source in the know of things said that Sriram's contract with CA runs through September and he is likely to work with the Australian team if required. "Sriram's current contract with us is till September. We are still in the process of finalising our coaching staff for the tour. Our appointments will be confirmed in the next week or so," the source told TOI on Wednesday.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board, on the other hand, has shown interest in appointing Sriram as their head coach after former Pakistan great Inzamam-ul-Haq resigned from the post. Sriram, though, will be tied up with his CA commitments for now.

He is expected to work with the budding Australian cricketers following the IPL.

"He has a contract with us goes beyond the men's team. He will also be doing some work with our national performance squad in the coming months," the source added.
