Shakib suspended by BCB
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has suspended all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for three ODIs. The decision was taken after Shakib was found guilty of making an inappropriate gesture on live television. The incident happened in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka. A fine of BDT 300,000 has also been levied for the breach of conduct.
The decision was taken after Shakib pleaded guilty to the disciplinary committee on the eve of the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka, which he will now miss.
"Shakib was repentant for the incident and readily accepted that the behavior was unbecoming of a player of his experience and stature. We also reminded him that his action was unacceptable," said Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the BCB CEO.
The ban also rules him out of Bangladesh's first two games in the upcoming Asia cup against India and Afghanistan.
