Dubai: Guillaume Sabourin was among the handful of players easing their way into the second round of qualifying at the 10th UAE Dubai ITF Junior Championships that got under way at the Aviation Club yesterday.
Sabourin was impressive in his 6-0, 6-0 thrashing of Pakistan's Daniyal Jafarey and was joined by Anshul Choubal, Fahad Al Janahi, Mohammad Ahli, Rickard Strand, Majid Al Falasi and Abdul Rahman Al Janahi in the second round of the qualifiers that will be held today.
"I am glad to get through to the next round so easily," Sabourin said. "But now that this is out of the way I will have to concentrate on my second match which I think will be a tough one," he added. And should Sabourin win that second round match he will have to take on another Pakistani player, Syed Zohair Raza, who won two matches on the trot yesterday. "As of now I don't want to look too far. I need to focus on my next match," Sabourin said. This is the 10th year of the tournament that gives junior players here a chance to play against some top players in the world.
