Podgorica, Montenegro: England coach Fabio Capello says Wayne Rooney is "calm and relaxed" following the arrest of the striker's father and uncle as part of an investigation into a betting scam.

Rooney's two relatives were among the nine men arrested yesterday on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud in relation to a Scottish Premier League match between Motherwell and Hearts last year.

The Manchester United striker has not been implicated in the investigation and is currently in Podgorica ahead of England's European Championship qualifier against Montenegro.

Capello says "I spoke to [Rooney] and I found him relaxed and calm. No problems for the game tomorrow against Montenegro."

Rooney is expected to start for England today.

Merseyside police said Rooney's 48-year-old father, who is also named Wayne, and 54-year-old uncle Richie Rooney were arrested at their homes in Liverpool. The pair were released on police bail along with two others yesterday afternoon pending further inquiries.

One of those detained was Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings, who played in the match and was given a straight red card with eight minutes remaining for disputing a penalty decision. Jennings had earlier been booked.

The betting investigation centres around a player receiving a red card in the match.

It has been reported that several bets were placed on there being a red card in the match.
