Only 37 Players were sold in 2013 Pepsi Indian Premier League Player Auction
The 2013 Pepsi IPL Player Auction was concluded successfully.Only 37 out of 108 Players were sold in IPL Player Auction 2013. IN IPL Player Auction 2013 $11.89 million was spent in just a few hours by the nine IPL franchises.
Highest Bid went to Australia all-rounder Glen Maxwell who was bought by Mumbai Indians for $1 million (Rs 5.3 crore).Glenn Maxwell is the IPL 2013 auction only millionaire.Second Highest Bid went to Srilankan Mystery Man Ajantha Mendis who fetched $725,000 from the Pune Warriors.
Australian captain Michael Clarke and Former Aussie Batsmen Ricky Ponting, both of whom were marquee players, did not generate much interest among the franchises and were sold on their base price of USD 400,000 (Rs 2.1 crore) to Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians respectively.
Among the Indians,as expected, Mumbai allrounder Abhishek Nayar, who performed consistently in the domestic arena,was the most expensive signing.Pune Warriors bought Abhishek Nayar for $675,000 (Rs.3.5 crore). Indian paceman R P Singh managed to get a good deal from Royal Challengers Bangalore, who bought him for USD 400,000 (Rs 2.1 crore).
Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat and Pankaj Singh, were bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for $525,000 and 150,000 respectively.Punjab’s fast bowler Manpreet Gony, who has disappointed since the inaugural IPL in 2008, went to Kings XI Punjab for$500,000.
Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera also fetched Rs 3.5 crore from Hyderabad Sunrisers,while South African all-rounder Johan Botha was bought by Delhi Daredevils for USD 450,000 (Rs 2.3 crore).Australian 21 year old rookie pacer Kane Richardson was bought by Pune Warriors for $700,000 (Rs.3.7 crore).
Australians dominated the auction with as many as 13 of their players sold at the event. Six players each from India and Sri Lanka, five from the West Indies, four South Africans and three New Zealanders found themselves a team during the bidding process.
