Bollywood's original dancing star Shammi Kapoor, known for bringing flamboyance, energy and boyish charm onscreen, turned 79 today.

The Yahoo star has not been keeping well for some time but that has not stopped his enthusiasm for life.

Not many know that he was the first Bollywood star to use Internet at a time when the web was not even popular in India.

"I have to visit hospital thrice in a month for dialysis. I am retired but happy and try to catch up new films whenever I have time," the actor told PTI.

The Jangali star continues to remain one of the most tech savvy actors even today by posting his daily musings on microblogging site Twitter.

"Internet use in India started in 1995 but I had started using it in 1991 (because of a special application by Apple). I also made an Internet users' society with Mafatlal, Harish Mehta and Devang Mehta," Shammi says.

The actor brought lightness and new charm to acting. His Elvis Presley's puff and dance made him a heartthrob.

When asked about his favourite films today, Shammi says, "I loved 3 Idiots and Munnabhai, they were beautifully written. I also like Karan Johar, who is making films for today's youth."

Shammi recently made a comeback in acting for grandnephew Ranbir Kapoor starrer Rockstar.

"Ranbir is very talented and he is working hard. He will become a huge star soon. I recently shot Rockstar with Ranbir and Imtiaz Ali in Delhi," Shammi says.

The veteran actor, best known for his roles in films like Jangali, Janwar, Brahmachari, Rajkumar and Mast Kalander, accepts that Bollywood does not give importance to good scripts even today.

"We are weak when it comes to good scripts but whenever there has been a good story, films have worked."

Born on 21 October 1931 in Mumbai, Shammi believes that time changes things but not their beauty.
