Says the film’s producer Karan Johar
Karan Johar, the man known as the king of melodrama is sticking his neck out and claiming that his latest production We Are Family is not a tear-jerker but a light-hearted, emotion-packed family film which everyone will enjoy watching.
“The film is not melodramatic. There are emotions but there are light moments too,” Karan tells a news agency.
The movie stars Arjun Rampal as the man who as a wife Kajol and three kids at home. But everyone’s life goes for a change when Arjun’s girlfriend Kareena Kapoor enters the household. There are bound to be ego clashes, cat fights and even cuddly moments between the two women.
Karan Johar credits first-time director Siddharth Malhotra for adapting the Hollywood film ‘Stepmom’ well into an Indian setting.
“Siddharth has brought in an inherent sensitivity to the story, which is an insight into the life of a modern Indian family,” Johar said, adding that the movie is not a scene by scene copy of ‘Stepmom’.
“There is an entire track in the movie’s second half which wasn’t there in Stepmom,” Karan said.
The film releases on September 2.
