Organisers had earlier announced Black Gold, starring Antonio Banderas, Freida Pinto and Mark Strong, and directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud would open the DTFF.
The Contemporary World Cinema programme, under which The Lady will be screened, will comprise features and documentaries and will compete for two Audience Choice Awards of Best Narrative Film and Best Documentary Film.
"I am pleased and honoured that The Lady has been selected to close DTFF, and that our premiere in the Middle East will take place in Qatar. I was deeply inspired and touched by Aung San Suu Kyi's personal story and her ongoing fight for democracy," director Besson said in a statement.
Films in competition include documentaries such as Mama Africa and ¡Vivan las antípodas and narrative films The Woman in the Fifth, In the Open and Toll Booth.
The DTFF will run from October 25 to 29.
