The first promo of Sridevi's comeback film 'English Vinglish' has her reading the film's Censor certificate and giving her trademark giggle
In a bid to be distinct, the first teaser of Sridevi’s comeback film shows the Censor Board certificate with the actress trying to read the certificate in her broken English.
She even makes fun of the names of the producer R Balki and director Gauri Shinde (Balki’s wife) by mispronouncing them. She does all this with her back to the audience and then turns around and begins to giggle in her inimitable style.
A source states that the teaser does not include any scene from the film. It only has Sridevi reading the certificate.
It was Balki’s idea and he had to take special permission from the Censor folk. As the film has Sridevi’s character learning English in order to please her husband and family, the makers thought this was an apt first look.
Sridevi returns to the silver screen after a sabbatical of 14 years — post marriage and motherhood. The film also features French actor Mehdi Nebbou, Adil Hussain and Priya Anand. Amitabh Bachchan has done a cameo.
