Singer Pammi Bai conferred Sangeet Natak Akademi Award

UNP ImagePunjabi folk singer Paramjeet Singh Sidhu, more popularly called Pammi Bai, was conferred the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award on Tuesday evening by President Pranab Mukheerjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi for his zealous contribution to the world of Punjabi folk music.

Besides this honour, the 55-year-old had been conferred the Shiromani Punjabi Award in 2009 and Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006.

On Wednesday, while returning to his home town of Patiala, Pammi Bai, while talking to HT over the phone, said that he dedicated the honour to all his fans and all those who loved Punjabi folk music and, most importantly, to the Punjabi language.

“I am feeling not just overwhelmed but also very encouraged after getting this award. I feel my fans deserve a big thank you, too. In fact, I would like to dedicate all my previous awards to my fans and to all those who share a warm bond with the Punjabi language,” the singer said, jubilantly.

Pammi has shared pictures of this honour on his Facebook page that, within a few minutes, received many comments and likes from his fans.
