After a stupendous start with approximately Rs 14 crore collection on its first day at the box ofice, Dabangg was expected to break the 3 Idiots’s record of first weekend collection, and guess what, it did! Can’t get bigger than this! The Salman Khan movie did approximately Rs 49 crore business in its first weekend, beating the 3 Idiots collection of Rs 38 crore.
The movie is already a huge hit with jaw-dropping figures from every circuit. Dabangg is not only emerging as a hot favourite for the movie goers in single screens but also in multiplexes.
In overseas market, Dabanng is doing superb business, and its box office run in UAE is great. The total overseas business in the first three days is around $2.4 million. Check out the figures here: United Kingdom - £332,673, North America - $628,317, UAE - $970,000. Awesome!
The film We Are Family also managed a good business in overseas market. It was surprising to see a 35% increase in its collections in Britain. The film is said to be a big hit in UK with £457,000 in just 10 days. The total overseas collection is average $1.9 million from first ten days.
Another box office darling, Aamir Khan’s film Peepli [Live], which is running in its fourth week, is a hit now with weekly nett of Rs 2,22,00,000.
