‘Rocket Singh’ dull, good opening for ‘Avatar’
Overall a good film but blame it on low publicity or an off beat kind of feel to it, as Yashraj Films’ Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year first weekend business is below expectations. While 3D wonder Avatar marked a good start all over India.
‘Rocket Singh’ collected Rs 14 crore approx over its first week. In fact, across the country, the movie witnessed low collection on all the days. Not even Ranbir Kapoor could save it. However, after 2012, James Cameron science fiction epic, ‘Avatar’ shown with a new 3D technology has set the box office on fire in India as well as the rest of the world.
The movie has been dubbed into several versions and is doing well all over India, but it remains to be seen if it can match or outshine the business of ‘2012’ that emerged as the biggest Hollywood hit ever in India.
Paa is steady in week two, collecting Rs 7.75 crore approx which takes its total to around Rs 24 crore approx. The film has the chance to be a semi hit but much depend on it’s collections and the release of 3 Idiots.
Let’s see whether ‘3 Idiots’ can work it's magic over the box office as is expected by everyone with the movie being touted as the biggest release of the year.
