Lindsay Lohan may be easy fodder for tabloids and Twitter, but perhaps not as much for prime-time talk shows.

The premiere of Lohan’s sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, in which she opened up about her drug and alcohol abuse, drew about 892,000 viewers to Oprah’s Next Chapter and gave the show a modest ratings boost.

The one-hour conversation, which aired Sunday on OWN at 9pm US time and encored at 10pm, revealed the Mean Girls star’s drug of choice, which is alcohol. She also said cocaine allowed her to drink more.

The total viewership for the 9pm telecast of the star’s troubled star’s appearance was 7 per cent higher than the show’s average this season. The programme also got a 6 per cent boost in the key women 25-to-54 demographic.

Still, it was only the second-highest-rated Sunday telecast of Oprah’s Next Chapter since pop star Usher’s appearance in September 2012.

A much bigger draw was Lance Armstrong’s confessional interview with Winfrey in January, on a Thursday. The first 90-minute part of that interview drew about 3.2 million viewers.
