Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor and his leading lady in Rockstar Narghis Fakhri were in a hard-sell mode as they went dandiya-hopping in Ahmedabad last Sunday. But it was not their dandiya moves (the traditional folk dance played out with sticks during Navrathri festival) that send the crowds in a frenzy. Their dramatic entry on a hydraulic crane was met with a thunderous applause as hundreds whipped out their phones to capture the scene.
This outing also happened to be Fakhri's first public appearance to promote her film. The US-born model, of Pakistani and Czech origin, is making her debut with this much-anticipated love story. She grabbed reams of print space earlier in the year when rumours of her dating her colleague Kapoor surfaced. Both have declined to comment on their personal lives.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali of Jab We Met fame, Rockstar revolves around the life of a Delhi-based boy (Kapoor) who goes on to become a world-renowned musician but loses the love of his life in the process.
Rockstar is slated to release in the UAE on November 10.
