Paul McCartney is giving the marriage thing a go again with his girlfriend of four year, Nancy Shevell – popping the question three years after his disastrous six-year union with Heather Mills came to an end in an acrimonious divorce.

With his rep spilling, “It’s true!” about the engagement, 51-year-old Nancy was spotted shopping with her TV presenter cousin Barbara Walters in New York at the weekend, toting a handbag by her future step-daughter Stella McCartney.

And despite the fact that when they divorced in 2008, Paul, 68, had to hand over Dh150 million of his fortune in the settlement, he’s one more eschewed a pre-nup, with sources saying he trusts Nancy implicitly - but that she has signed a one-page document which states that if the marriage fail, she won’t make a claim on his children’s trust funds.

“Nancy’s father is super-rich,” says a New York mole of her truck business-owning dad. “She doesn’t need anyone else’s cash.”

“He proposed during a romantic dinner for two,” spilled an insider. “They’ve been busy telling all their friends the good news.”

Paul and Nancy met at a swish Hamptons bash in 2007, when he was estranged from Heather Mills, and sources say Paul’s daughter Stella liked Nancy from the get-go.

“She is universally popular with all of the people in Paul’s life,’ said a source. “That was not the case with the previous one.”

Best of luck with this one, Paul!
