Mohenjo Daro is new epic adventure romantic film directed & written by Ashutosh Gowariker. Starred with Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hedge in the main roles. The movie is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur for UTV Motion Pictures and Sunita Gowariker for Ashutosh Gowariker Productions Pvt. Ltd. (AGPPL). The dialogues in the film are given by Preeti Mamgain, Ashutosh Gowariker managed the screenplay and edited by Sandeep Francis. Oscar Award holder A. R. Rahman has composed the songs & lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. Ashutosh Gowariker is famous for his direction after delivering many blockbuster films such as Lagaan, Swades, Jodhaa Akbar.
In Mohenjo Daro Hrithik essays the role of Sarman a young orphaned child who resides with his uncle close to the areas of Mohenjo Daro and actress Pooja essays the role of Chaani. He sneaks out of his house and joins the fair in Mohenjo Daro with the ambition of becoming a trader. In a street fight, he saves the life of beautiful girl Chaani & felts in love with her. Later Chaani turns out to Kabir Bedi’s daughter, who was responsible for the death of Hrithik’s father and what happens next forms the crux of the story.
This epic movie is said to be world’s first cinematic presentation referred to ancient Indus Valley Civilization about most known Mohenjo-Daro. The story tells about a common farmer who travels to city and falls in love with a rich girl. Director worked on the script for 3 years working with archaeologists in documenting the Indus Valley Civilization. Most of the film was shot in Bhuj and Mumbai followed by short schedules in Jabalpur and Thane. Gowariker director of the film said he wished to make films set in the ancient Indus Valley civilization. The main plot of Mohenjo Daro depicts the culture and the vibe of ancient civilization also featured with a love story. Few scenes in the trailer featured with flying crocodile, horned crowns, feathered headgear. In the end, Sarman will uncover all the secrets of the city Mohenjo-Daro and Chaani. He was touted to be the savior of the city.
Ashutosh Gowariker took 3 years in scripting the movie due to immense research & hard work about the Indus valley Civilization and their lives at the time of 2500 BC. The trailer depicts, They will just say that, Before British Raj, Before Mughals, Before Christ, Before Alexander, Before Buddha, Before India becoming India there was MOHENJO DARO. Hedge’s father is the evil ruler in the film, who plans to control the city like a leader after the oppressed citizen’s but Sarman can only stop him. This movie includes other factors such as inspiring speeches, shy glances, and stolen kisses.
The movie is also demanded with good action sequences which resulted in the injury of the actor when he was involved in an action role. Visual effects are done under the guidance of VFX consultant Karen Goulekas in conjunction with VFX supervisor Govardhan Vigraham. Mohenjo Daro is certified 12A by British Censors and Approved run time 153 minutes 34 seconds.
