The plot Gil (Wilson) is having a bad time in the beautiful city of Paris. He's a writer who's struggling to finish his novel, while his fiancée, Inez (McAdams) seems more in awe of her friend Paul (Sheen) than she does of Gil. Also disliked by Inez's parents, what bothers Gil the most is an unnerving feeling he has that he's living in the wrong time.

One day, a little drunk and desperate, Gil wanders the streets of Paris alone at midnight. As he passes a particular street, a motorcar stops to give him a lift, and after hopping in, he suddenly finds himself chatting with Great Gatsby novelist, F Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda, while famed composer, Cole Porter, tickles the ivories.

Soon, Gil realises that he's been transported back to the Paris of the roaring 1920s and he can talk to his literary heroes about his book. But matters become more complicated when he starts to fall for Adriana (Cotillard), a costume designer and muse for artistic giants like Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso.

What we liked This is undoubtedly one of Woody Allen's best films of the past 10 years. It's funny and thoughtful and filled with wonderful - and certainly some Oscar-worthy - performances.

What we didn't like We have nothing bad to say!
