Although sources are divided as to how long Maria has known about the existence of Arnold’s son with their former housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena (known as Patty), friends have revealed that the news becoming public knowledge has cut the Kennedy heiress to the bone.
“This week has been so humiliating for her,” spilled a source. “She carries herself with a lot of pride, as befitting her famous family, and she’s spent so long defending Arnold against all sorts of allegations – and instructing her staff to do so too – that she has been left feeling as if she looks foolish.”
Maria, 55, hired celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, who has handled divorces for Ryan Reynolds, Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera and w hole host of other A-list clients, but still hasn’t decided whether or not to continue with divorce proceedings against her husband of 25 years.
“She hasn’t yet decided if she wants to end her marriage,” said an insider. With another adding, “She suspected that he messed around, but she had no idea about the child.”
Meanwhile, Arnie, 63, has asked for privacy for Maria and their four children, insisting, “While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family do not.”
