Despite tough competition from two other releases this Friday, Mallika Sherawat’s Hisss has been able to find its takers at box office.
Jhootha Hi Sahi and Rakta Charitra have clearly performed below expectations. But it’s Hisss which got the worst reviews from critics that has managed to tide over the negative reportage and sail at box office with a business that is keeping it neck-to-neck with Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakta Charitra with a collection of close to Rs. 4 crore net during the weekend. The film might touch the figure of Rs. 6 crore in its first week run.
Hisss is particularly doing well at single screen theatres where people are buying tickets to see Mallika’s dare-bare act as a shape-shifting naagin.
The publicity gimmick by the film’s producer Govind Menon in declaring in a media report that Mallika has done her own nude scenes in the film has surely paid its dividend.
On her Twitter account, Mallika is getting lots of compliments from her fans, some of them saying that they would watch the film again.
