Scotty McCreery is still facing Lauren Alaina on the American Idol finale.
Ryan Seacrest, the talent contest's host, said before Tuesday's performances that Alaina lost her voice during rehearsals, but the 16-year-old songstress insisted that she would still perform.
"I'm here," said Alaina. "I'm ready to sing. I'm fine."
Seacrest brought a doctor onto the Nokia Theatre stage who explained that Alaina blew out one of her vocal cords during rehearsals but had been given "a lot of medicine" to be able to sing on the finale with McCreery, the 17-year-old country crooner.
Alaina performed Carrie Underwood's Flat on the Floor in the first round of the finale without issue.
