But both movies perform below expectations

The three releases of the last Friday have not brought any cheer to the box office. Jhootha Hi Sahi, Rakta Charitra and Hisss - all have performed below expectations.

For the John Abraham and Pakhi starrer Jhootha Hi Sahi, the writing was on the wall on the very first day when it did a paltry business of Rs. 1.5 crore, a dismal figure for a movie that is a Rs. 40 crore investment. However, the business did pick up and the movie managed to make around Rs. 6 crore net during the weekend.

Rakta Charitra, starring Vivek Oberoi, was still poor in North India. It collected just Rs. 1 crore on its opening day, though the film got a very positive response in the Andhra belt. During the weekend it did business of around Rs. 3.25 crore net.

Mallika Sherawat’s Hisss also made Rs. 1 crore on its opening day but the figures have been going down since then. Now, even Jennifer Lynch has disowned the film, claiming that she was dissociated from the project mid way through production. The first weekend collection of Hisss stands close to Rs. 3.25 crore, almost neck-to-neck with Rakta Charitra. The film has fared better at single screens.

The coming Friday will see the release of just small-budget films.
