Is this Cheryl Cole's green light?

Has Cheryl Cole finally got the vote of confidence from the US version of The X Factor? It appeared that way when producer L.A. Reid — the only person officially announced so far as being on the show — seemed to confirm her presence on the judging panel during an interview.

Perez Hilton reports that when asked about how X Factor USA would differ from American Idol, Reid said: "We're gonna compete against American Idol just fine. I'm very confident. But along with Simon Cowell and Cheryl, I don't know who the other judge is."

Cowell, who has been tight-lipped about the judging panel, refused to confirm or deny the news, telling the Daily Mail "no comment".

It's been an uphill struggle for Cole — and Cowell, who is championing her to US TV executives — who apparently fear that the British singer is too little known in the States and that viewers would have problems understanding her Geordie accent.

But if Cole doesn't get the US job, it seems she'll be unemployed — as British TV bosses are already replacing her on the UK X Factor panel, with Lily Allen and Gary Barlow touted as new faces.
