British Rolling Stones collaborator and Small Faces keyboardist Ian McLagan died on Wednesday aged 69, his manager said.
A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, McLagan played keyboard with British rock band Small Faces, and later the group Faces with Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart.
He died in Austin, Texas, due to complications after suffering a stroke, a statement on his official website said.
“He was a beloved friend to so many people and a true rock and roll spirit,” said his manager Ken Kushnick.
Drummer Kenny Jones, a fellow member of Small Faces and Faces, said he was “completely devastated by this shocking news.”
As well as releasing several solo albums, McLagan collaborated with the Rolling Stones on their 1978 album Some Girls, and worked with artists including Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
McLagan had been due to begin a North American tour opening for Nick Lowe on Wednesday.
