Rohit Shetty’s out-and-out comedy Golmaal 3 has an upper hand over Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s lowbrow rom-com Action Replayy at box office.
The two films released together on Friday, which was Diwali. Golmaal 3, starring a host of actors including Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade opened on Friday with occupancy between 60 and 90 percent at different theatres. The response to the Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai starrer was rather thanda. The movie opened to a lacklustre 30 to 40 percent response on its first day.
Since the Diwali day is usually reserved for festivities and puja, the collections were never expected to go through the roof. But both the films picked up slightly from Saturday onward.
Golmaal 3 has particularly been received well by movie buffs. The film has got mostly positive reviews, though some critics have panned it. Action Replayy, on the other hand, has got greater share of negative reviews in the media.
A clearer picture regarding the businesses of both films will appear in the days ahead.
