After spending the past few years working behind the scenes in the bhangra industry from his studio in Southampton, G-Company, real name Gurwant Singh Grewal (Gee) is now ready to unleash his solo debut album entitled 'Folklore'. Recorded in Punjab and the UK, the album contains 8 straight up hardhitting bhangra tracks. Featuring seasoned vocalists such as Ashok Gill and Tanveer Gogi, the album also showcases fresh vocal talents in the form of upcoming singers Arif Khan, Nirmal Chauhan and Amarjit Singh. All vocalists have been personally sourced and recorded by G-Company, whilst on the lyricist front the ever reliable Bhupinder Bhindi Laltonwala, Kala Nizampuri, Jagga Singh Gill and Gurmeet Cheema have been utilised.
G-Company stated “I have worked very hard to make an honest album which genuine bhangra fans will hopefully enjoy. With little outside involvement and industry contacts, I have not made this album for a shot at fame, money or bookings, but for the love of bhangra music and to fulfil a life-long dream. Whilst session musicians have been used and credited (see inlay for more details), I have been very hands-on with this album by taking care of the overall music production, playing the tumbi, keyboard, bass guitar, and then mixing and mastering it myself.”
The album is accompanied by an official music video directed by eNCy Films (Neil Coxhill), which highlights the lead track 'Nachna Nai Onda' featuring Ashok Gill on the vocals. The album itself is available now on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and all good Asian music retailers.
