The plot Charlie Brewster (Yelchin) has it all - he hangs out with the in-crowd and is dating Amy (Poots), the hottest girl in high school. In fact, he thinks he's so cool that he no longer has any time for his best friend, Ed (Mintz-Plasse). However, trouble turns up on Charlie's doorstep when mysterious stranger, Jerry (Farrell), moves in next door.

Seeming like a great guy at the beginning, pretty soon Charlie realises there's something not quite right about Jerry, and after witnessing some very strange comings and goings, Charlie comes to the conclusion that his new neighbour is in fact a vampire. Unable to convince anyone, including his mother (Collette), that the dude next door is a bona fide bloodsucker, Charlie finds the only person he thinks might be able to help him, Peter Vincent (Tennant), a Las Vegas stage performer and self-professed vampire expert.

What we liked Fright Night really is as great a remake as you might hope for. It honours the smash-hit original, modernising and adding enough aspects to make it feel fresh. Farrell and Tennant excel as Jerry and Peter Vincent respectively, and Farell's Jerry effortlessly revels in his evil - coming across as both charming and unnerving.

What we didn't like It wasn't as scary as we thought.

e+ says This is an incredibly entertaining movie, even for those who hate horror.
