Filming begins for Djinn in the city

Filming for Emirati horror film Djinn has begun in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, producers announced yesterday.

Directed by genre master Tobe Hooper, best known for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre films, the multi-lingual thriller features a cast of Emirati and Arab actors said Imagenation Abu Dhabi.

This will be the company's second local production.

Djinn tells the story of a young Emirati couple who return home from the US and discover that they are not alone in their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village.

It will star Khalid Laith and Razane Jamal in the lead, along with a cast of Emirati actors, including City of Life star Saoud Al Ka'abi.

The release date for Djinn has not been announced.
