Do Lafzon Ki Kahani
Director: Deepak Tijori
Cast: Randeep Hooda, Kajal Aggarwal, Mamik Singh
Rating: 2.5/5

After his stunning, heart-wrenching performance in Sarbjit, Randeep Hooda is back onscreen with Do Lafzon ki Kahani, a mushy romantic film that echos the fairytale idea of love.
Taking us back to the 90s when dialogues like “Haath mila rahi hu, maang nahi rahi” seemed cute, Do Lafzon Ki Kahaani is a tale of ‘eternal love’, one that makes you sacrifice all and suffer forever for the sake of your beloved.
Based on the 2011 Korean movie Always, this kahani follows Sooraj (Randeep), a former mixed martial arts fighter who sells his life to be able to afford importing cornea from the US for his beloved Jenny (Kajal Aggarwal).

What is really worth watching are the sequences where Randeep prepares to get back into to the ring. For a movie that hinges on a love story, Do Lafzon ki Kahani is weak on the chemistry though. But there are a few scenes between Randeep and Kajal that melt your heart. We blame the melodramatic dialogues for the scarcity of such scenes.
Here are a few dialogues that kill the experience:
Jenny: Kam bolne walon ke andar yaadon ka ek jwalamukhi hota jisme wo jal rahe hote hain.
Sooraj: Aur andhe log jada bolte hain.
*Hurt Jenny leaves the dinner date*
And this:
A villainous character tells Sooraj: Jarur kamaal ki cheez hogi wo jiske liye tu apni jaan tak dene ko taiyaar ho gaya.

Well, if we’re foisted with these dialogues, the least the makers could do is make sure we can hear them. But the background music becomes too loud at times. It however does help enhance the mood of the film and the melodrama. Sadly though, most of the songs are forgettable, except for Sukhwinder Singh’s voice in Chal Uth Bandeya.

The film focuses more on the idea of love than anything else, and the beautiful locales of Malayasia add to this experience. That in itself is reason enough to watch it. (Take your bae along).
If you’re not the romantic kind, Randeep’s acting and his ‘ode to Sylvester Stallone’ (his workout sequences) will be a delight then.
