Cowboys and Aliens is every bit exciting
Who's in it? Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano
The plot It's the year 1875 in New Mexico, and Jake Lonergan (Craig), a man with no memory of his past, stumbles into the desert town of Absolution, with the only hint to his past, a strange shackle around his wrist. Made to feel completely unwelcome in this outback town, Lonergan soon realises that the people of Absolution live in fear, are wary of strangers, and that nobody walks the streets unless commanded to do so by Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford).
One night, Lonergan discovers why the townsfolk act so strangely, when the desolate town is attacked by aliens, who descend without warning and abduct anyone they come across. Having helped fight off the invasion, Lonergan soon becomes the town's only hope for salvation.
And as he slowly starts to remember his past, Lonergan realises he holds a secret that could save the town from the alien invaders, and with the help of the elusive lone traveller Ella (Wilde), he puts together a gang including the townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors, to defend their town from the little green men.
What we liked You've got James Bond and Indiana Jones fighting aliens! What could possibly be more exciting?
What we didn't like The premise is great, but sadly, Cowboys and Aliens ultimately fails to deliver the thrills.
