Television actor Gurmeet Choudhary, who has won the “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5”, is overjoyed and overwhelmed and says that his next destination is Bollywood.

“I always wanted to do films. I hope directors have seen me perform in ‘Jhalak...’ and I get a call from them that they want to cast me as the lead actor in their film,” an hopeful Choudhary said.

Talking about the kind of movies he wants to do, he added: “People have always liked me in both action and romantic roles, so I would like to do a full packaged film that gives me a chance to do a little bit of both.”

In the show’s grand finale Sunday, he competed with Rashmi Desai and Rithvik Dhanjani for the title.

Gurmeet was a dark horse, who was not in the list of regular highest scorers, but his sheer hard work took him to the top.

“I never looked at ‘Jhalak...’ like a competition, I just performed and tried giving my best. The people who voted for me are not my fans, I see them as my family. I just returned their love by putting my best foot forward and winning the show. Honestly, I am very satisfied with my performances,” said Choudhary, who kept a very low profile on the show.

He also gives credit to his wife Debina, who was a constant support.

“Debina is my lucky charm. She was always there on the sets during my performance. Sometimes when she used to miss coming for the show because of her shoot, I used to get low marks.

“I am grateful to her for her support throughout this journey. I would not have done this without her,” added the 28-year-old, who had many ups and downs on the show.

Choudhary debuted on the small screen in 2006, but his first big break came in the form of mythological show “Ramayana”, where he played Lord Rama.

However, he became popular with his 2010 show “Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi”. Currently he is seen as Yash Scindia on Zee TV’s popular show “Punar Vivah”.
