The track is not exciting, say officials and fans

Indians were expecting their Waka Waka but what they got to hear as CWG theme track by A R Rahman was a rather lackluster composition. Neither fans nor the officials are approving of it.

Naturally the expectations were quite high from the Oscar-winning composer who has given hits like Jai Ho to the world and Indians were expecting a terrific song as the CWG theme. Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto rather turned out to be an okay number with nothing that can be called truly exciting. According to reports, politicians and CWG officials now want the track, which has cost approximately Rs 5 crore, to be 'recomposed'.

After the launch of the track, Vijaykumar Malhotra, board member of CWG organising committee (OC) is quoted to have said, "We had expected a better song from a composer of Rahman’s status. He has given some very good songs like Maa Tujhe Salaam but this song is not that impressive."

Critics have slammed the composition by saying the song has neither the ‘pace nor the punch’ of Waka Waka and isn’t inspiring like Maa Tujhe Salaam. Rahman took six months to compose CWG theme track and had promised that it will have the same energy as Shakira’s Waka Waka.

Fans and users have uploaded several comments in their reaction to the theme track on various networking sites and most of them are saying, “We expected something better.”
