Teeyan Teej

Punjab is a wonderful and colorful state in Northern India. It is fertile by five rivers. Punjab have been named from these five rivers. It is a state of five rivers that means to say 5+Aab. Now I am not talking about the present Punjab, which has only two rivers land whose boundry not surrounded only from Khaam Khaina to Chandigarh and from Pathankot to Abohar Fazilka.

Now I want to talk about the old Punjab whose capital had been Lahore. The Punjab which had rivers Zehlam, Chanab, Raavi, Beas and Satluj.:w

Punjab is a state of season and festivals. Even in month of Baisakhi celebrated like that in the month of Savan. Teejs are celebrated in the Punjab. The month of Sawan is extremely waited by the people and also by the young girls. The real life of Punjabi people is seen in the festival.
According to an idiom of Punjab thee are 30 days in a month and 32 festivals. There are much festivals are celebrated in Punjab like “Raksha Bandhan, Puranmashi, Sangrandh, Basant Panchami, Baisakhi, Dussehra, Diwali, Ram Naumi, Karva Chouth and Teej are the main festivals. Punjabi culture is soul of Punjabi. :run

It shows the life of Punjabi. Punjabi culture is famous in all the world. Now it is the month of Sawan in these days. In this month the Teej is celebrated. The celebration of this festival is started from the third day of the Sawan.
Many songs are written by the Punjabi author in this occasion.
“Sawan Da Mahina Din Giddha De Sabhe Sahalyan Aiyan Nachan Kundan, Jhutan Pingan Piyan Vadiyan Gharan Diya Jaiyan Bhij Gai Rooh Mitra Sham Ghatan Chad Aiyan”.

The month of Sawan is very important, we prepare Kheer Poorae, Gulgale, Karah and Pakoras in this month. In this month the young girls celebrated teej together and dance on cultural songs. One of the fmoaus one is
” Sase Teri Mahen Marh Jaye,
Mere Veer Nu Sukhi Khand Payee.”

The young girls who are present in Giddha, always ready to give her life for her lovers and pray for his fine health. She think that his lovers pains and sorrows are here own, it is described in one of the songs as follows
Akh Mere Yaar Di Dukhe,
Lali Merian Akhan De Wich Aiyee.
The friends of very beautiful and smart young girl commented to her and she gave the author of the comments in these words:

Metho Roop Vandya Na Jawe,
Ni Gur hove Vandi Firan.
The young girls whose lovers are near them in the month of Sawan they are treated as God by these girls:-
Aya Sawan Da Maheena Aa,
Tun menu Rab Lagdha Naleh Naleh Makka Te Madina Aa.
The young girls whose lovers are far abroad. They requests to their lover.
Teri Do Takyan Di Nokri:run
Mera Lakhan Da Sawan Jaye.
Chhuti Lai Ke Aja chann Ve”

The month of Sawan comes after a year and Teej’s are also :boatcomes after a year where these are celebrated:-
Teeyan Teej Diyan Bhadon De Muklave Teeyan Teej Diyan.
But now the interest of the people becomes least in festivals instead of celebrated the Teej’s. The young girls like to go to disco, theatres, hotels and parties, which is now taking over our culture. :kiven
I am not saying that one should not go to these modernized entertainment spots, but the point here is one should not go to Clubs to celebrate Teyaan Teej where no one knows its meaning.
