When do I say good-bye?

Many times I've attempted,
several ways I've tried,
nothing seems to work out
even though I've realized.
I try and tell this heart of mine
that it's been years since you've been gone,
yet, it's beating for only you
because that's where you belong.
The thing is I can't love you
for your love is not returned,
and I don't want to face that pain
because the first time it was a lesson learned.
I want to say good-bye to you.
I want to let this love go,
time seemed like it was what I needed
yet, now it seems like I don't know.
You've told me that it's over,
you made it perfectly clear,
so why do I come back for more
even after all these years?
I guess the day will come
when the thought of you won't bring me down,
I will live this life without you,
and wait for another love to come around.
