Walk Away

When I turned around and walked out the door,
I promised my heart, I'd come back no more.

For so many years I took your abuse,
And for staying with you, was just an excuse.

I'm sorry you'd say, it won't happen again,
To you it's a game that only you can win.

From the bruise on my cheek, to my black and blue eye,
I'd look in the mirror and ask my self why?

It must have been something I did or say,
To make you so angry, that I had to pay.

I'll never forget that cold winter night,
When you came home and started to fight.

You hit me so hard I fell to the floor,
That's when I knew I couldn't take it no more.

So, after you left for work the next day,
I packed my things and walked away.
