The Values Of Life

Purity, sacredness,
Virtue so rare,
Morality's cupboard,
Disturbingly bare.

Clouded our minds are,
Imprisoned, our good,
We live for ourselves,
And not as we should.

Enamored with wealth,
Lustful for pride,
Bedded with Evil,
Gave birth to new lies.

Success is the Sultan,
Pride serves at its side,
Destructive together,
Your soul they divide.

Corruption so vivid,
Before our own eyes,
Do nothing to stop it,
Desensitize our minds.

Standards created,
Deceitful importance,
Teach nothing of values,
Neglecting; Indolence.

Girls riding on trikes,
Pigtails wave in the breeze,
Soon wear china doll faces,
Society to please.

No more skipping or singing,
Innocence is lost,
Who'd have known growing up,
Would harvest such cost?

A kiss from a child,
A hug from a friend,
A smile from a stranger,
True love found within.

So simple life's truths,
Yet scarcely declared,
Could the fate of this world,
Ever be spared?
