I wrote this back in 02 but it being mothers day I thought Id post it anyways.

Mother

As the years went by
I watched the troubles of the world
Rain down on your face
And wash away your natural radiance

I witnessed you grow wiser
As old age swept over you like a fog
Every wrinkle holding a memory
And every grey hair holding a burden

In every crease of every wrinkle
Is tucked away a cherished moment
The times when you had been there for me
When I needed you the most

I look back and see
How many of those grey hairs were because of me
All the times you told me not to when I knew I shouldn’t
And I did as my will pleased anyways

Even though the fog grows thicker day by day
When I look at you the same glowing
Smile still shines through
Untouched by the troubles of the world.
