HE MEETS SUNSHINE
Tonight as the night covers him, he meets sunshine
She tells him it’s not all well, yet it will be fine...
Her tears make him ache, her smile makes him pine
Tonight as the night covers him, he meets sunshine.
As light she comes through the dark
Asking this night to cease...
Her laugh is the warmth, her eyes are the spark
Those in this blaring night give him peace.
And yet his heart shall yearn
And yet his mind shall weep...
To have her is to not
For she is not his to keep.
She knows not what she is
To his soul and to him...
Her existence is the only bliss
Her dearth is death and grim.
You don’t get what you most love
These longings shall have to learn...
It knows it has yelled enough
Yet tonight his heart shall yearn.
Yore and hope have deserted him again
Pretence seems the lone way out of hell...
Chance once more plays a brutal game of pain
But this pain is for no one to tell.
Tonight he knows not if he can endure
Love is neither sheer nor divine...
But his heart cannot cheat or lure
Coz tonight he hopes to meet sunshine.
