Christmas Alone

Merry Christmas to all those who are alone!
Today is pagan, Christian, Buddhist, all for celebration,
and yet it seems so lonely, painful, and very sad.
The empty window, no lights, no tree, filled with nothing.
Presents some years past memory only intended to haunt.
Ghosts of laughter and merriment eat at the soul,
and yet! Oh, yet someone writes this poem for you.
The ground feels cold, an empty heart, no hope in sight.
Then with an open hand your welcome to share mine.
Share your sorrow, pain, and fears with anyone.
The only shame self pity, the courage is in you.
Ask for help and you shall receive one blessing from me.
I wish you well in all you do, and merriment and joy.
My prayers go out to every god and deity I know,
that you can find some comfort even when you are alone.
I sit here by myself tonight on Christmas Eve,
I lost my job, no food for the kids, no hope, no forward.
I wish you well tonight; I hope someone does as much for me.
Merry Christmas to all those who are alone.
