Using Honey for Skin Care

In this economy, it’s hard to justify spending hundreds of dollars on beauty products, but that doesn’t mean you have to fore-go all pampering. A great money saving practice is creating your own products from food items that are already lying around the house. Not only is this beneficial for your wallet, but it also means you can have skin care products that are all natural and don’t have any of those pesky, skin-irritating preservatives. Knowing what is in a skin care product is important because that can prevent allergens, toxins, and unpleasant reactions.

A great super-food that can be used in a wide variety of products is honey. It is used as an ingredient in many beauty products due to its hydrating and healing nature. Honey contains antioxidants and is naturally antimicrobial, making it perfect for treating minor acne, rejuvenating sun damaged skin, cleansing, and moisturizing. Using pure honey as a spot treatment for blemishes works overnight because of those antibacterial properties.

Honey can be used in many DIY skin care recipes that are great for your skin and don’t break the bank. Here are a few all-natural product recipes that use the amazing healing properties of honey in different ways:
