Whenever you touch a hot object it takes you a moment to withdraw your hand from the heated object. This happens almost automatically, you don’t even need to think or decide about with drawing or not with drawing your hand from that hot object. Isn’t this amazing? Well I would say, from all the other countless blessings, this is yet another blessing from our Creator that we take just for granted. Coming back to the topic, so what do you thing is it just a mere co incidence or something? Certainly not! Your nervous is performing all this function these are the nerve bundles or nerve roots that rise from the spinal cord. Brain, spinal cord peripheral nerves and autonomic nerves coordinate everything including all movements, thoughts and sensations that you experience. The moment you touch a hot object, your muscles receive signal from the nervous system to let it go. All this happen in a flash, in less then a moment.
The nervous system coordinates and regulates voluntary movements as well as involuntary functions. Breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature are all involuntary functions. Central nervous system also makes brain, spinal cord and other tissues communicate and transfer information between each other. Nevertheless it’s the nervous system that makes you sense your external and internal surroundings. Brain is the center of your nervous system whereas spinal cord and nerves are the connections. Neurons in the brain send signals and nerves carry these electrochemical signals to all areas of nervous system and tissues and organs. Nervous system or Nerves can be classified in four sections; Cranial nerves that connect your sense organs (eyes, ears, nose, mouth) to your brain, Central nervous system, consists of the brain, spinal cord, cranial and central nerves, it connects areas within the brain and spinal cord, Peripheral nerves, also called Peripheral nervous system, it connects the spinal cord with your limbs and Autonomic nervous system that is made of autonomic nerves, it connects the brain and spinal cord with your organs (heart, stomach, intestines, blood vessels, etc.)
