It is not uncommon to wake up with ghastly looking tiny red bumps all over the face and body when one has not taken adequate precautions against protecting oneself from mosquito-bites when dozing off to sleep. These mosquito-bites often not only leave behind unattractive marks on the skin, but also pose serious health hazard. The below-mentioned home remedy for treating mosquito bites should prove handy under such circumstances.

Home Remedy for Treating Mosquito Bites

  • Clean the infected spot on the skin where the mosquito has bitten with mild soap and water. This will not only bring about temporary respite from the itch, but also wash away any bacteria present on the skin.
  • Try not to scratch the spot on the skin that has been bitten by mosquito. Too much of scratching the mosquito bite can cause harm to the skin and also cause bleeding at times.
  • You can also try using a cool compress on the mosquito bite spot, for instance an ice pack enveloped in a thin towel or a clean strip of cloth dipped in cold water to prevent yourself from scratching.
  • Anti-itching medicines like calamine lotion and cortisone creams bring about some respite from itching for a considerable time period.
  • Any home-made medicine / remedy can also prove beneficial. For instance, application of vinegar or maybe a paste created out of baking soda and water to the mosquito bite is effective.
  • Incase the itch is intolerable, topical anesthetics do much to ebb pain and itching. Medications like this include PrameGel and Caladryl.
  • Incase you happen to among the less fortunate ones who suffer from allergic reactions as a result of mosquito bites, then anti-inflammatory medicines containing ibuprofen like Motrin and Advil can lessen the redness, sting, itching, swelling, fever and other such symptoms.
  • Incase you feel lightheaded or nauseated after being bitten by mosquitoes, then it could be the sign of an acute allergic reaction. It is suggested that you take medical help as soon as possible.
  • Mosquitoes have a tendency to accumulate in dark, unclean corners. As such, it will also be of tremendous help in future if you keep your home clean and tidy.
