How Do You Know You Are Anemic

Anemia is a condition in which the body experiences qualitative or quantitative deficiency of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is responsible for carrying oxygen, from the lungs to the tissues. Thus, anemia results in the lack of oxygen in organs. There are three main causes that result in anemia in an individual. These include excessive blood loss, excessive blood cell destruction and deficient red blood cell production. A common disorder of the blood, anemia can be fatal, if left untreated for a long time. How Do You Know You Are Anemic:
If you notice the following signs and symptoms, it is a strong indication that you have anemia.

  • Exhaustion
  • Weakness
  • Fainting
  • Breathlessness
  • Heart palpitations (rapid or irregular beating)
  • Lightheadedness
  • Headache
  • Ringing in the ears (Tinnitus)
  • Difficulty in sleeping
  • Low concentration
  • Pale complexion
  • Fading of the color of the red lining of mouth and eyelids
  • Abnormal menstruation (either absence of periods or increased bleeding)
  • Leg Cramps
  • Behavioral disturbances (in children)
