ABBOTSFORD, BC (KP)—A recent incident based in British Columbia hinted at the rapidly growing Sikh Community in Canada. According to reports published by several newspapers, the first child born in 2009 in British Columbia belonged to a Sikh Family.
The baby boy was delivered at 1:30 AM at the Abbotsford based Fraser Health Hospital. Navdeep Sandhu, mother of the newly born baby, was surprised over the rush of newspaper reporters to the hospital as she was now aware of the tradition in which the first born baby of the year is honored.
