A simple dish of rice flour cooked with spices.

Makes 2 cups. [/FONT]

[FONT="]1 cup rice flour[/FONT]
[FONT="]1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)[/FONT]
[FONT="]1/4 teaspoon chilli powder[/FONT]
[FONT="]1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)[/FONT]
[FONT="]1/2 teaspoon green chillie, chopped[/FONT]
[FONT="]1/4 teaspoon soda-bi-carb [/FONT]
[FONT="]2 tablespoons oil[/FONT]
[FONT="]1 tablespoon chopped coriander[/FONT]
[FONT="]salt to taste[/FONT]
[FONT="]Method[/FONT]
[FONT="]1.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Put 2 1/2 cups of water to boil in a handi.[/FONT]
[FONT="]2.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Add the cumin seeds, chilli powder, asafoetida, green chillies, soda bi-carb and salt and bring to a boil. [/FONT]
[FONT="]3.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Add the rice flour and whisk vigorously with a wooden spoon so that no lumps remain.[/FONT]
[FONT="]4.[/FONT]
[FONT="]Cover and cook on a flame for 10 minutes.[/FONT]

[FONT="]Add the oil and chopped coriander and mix well.[/FONT]

[FONT="]VARIATION : you can make MOONG DAL KHICHU by soaking green moong dal and grinding it to a paste. Then, follow the same recipe.[/FONT]
