Recipe Carrot halwa

INGREDIENTS

  • 200g ghee
  • 1kg carrots, grated
  • 500ml milk
  • 200g khoya (solidified milk) or milk powder
  • 300g sugar
  • 75g raisins
  • 75g pistachio slivers
  • 75g almond flakes, for garnishing
  • 2 silver leaves, for garnishing
PREPARATION
1. Heat ghee in a large pan, add carrots and mix well. Cook over a medium heat until carrots turn bright orange.
2. Add milk and khoya or milk powder and cook on medium heat until the mixture thickens and reduces. Add the sugar and mix well.
3. Add the raisins and pistachio slivers, mix and then turn off the heat.
4. Allow the halwa to cool slightly and then serve in bowls garnished with almonds flakes and silver leaves.
