Recipe Cake - A Classic Easy Recipe

Ingredients
2/3 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs 3 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup water

Directions
In a glass bowl cream the shortening and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after adding each one.

Sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder,and salt) and to the mixture alternating with the water. Stir in the vanilla and the lemon juice.

Bake in 3 greased and floured 8 inch cake pans at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cool and frost with filling and frosting of your choice.
