Tata Zica - the carmaker's next big launch is set to make its global debut tomorrow. Tata Motors has been gearing up for this launch for close to two years now, and the car finally made an official appearance albeit on social media. The carmaker revealed official images of the Tata Zica today, and from what we can see it doesn't just look fresh but also seems ready to cater to a new segment for the company.

Up front, Tata Zica's shape may remind you of the Indica but there is no denying that the design has evolved. This new design initiative involves inputs from the company's design centres in Coventry, Turin and Pune. The front-end of the Tata Zica features the carmaker's new signature honeycomb-grille with a chrome 'Humanity Line' that runs into the smoked head-lamps.

Other noticeable design elements on the Tata Zica include a new set of alloy wheels, a side profile that resembles the Zest. With that being said, the Zica's rear profile is extremely refreshing and bears no resemblance to any Tata Motors car. The character line on the side of the Tata Zica starts from the A-pillar and culminates into the tail-lamps; you can also see a tiny crease on the boot - a great design touch.

Powering Tata Zica will be a newly developed 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel unit that puts out 64bhp and 140Nm of torque. The engine is reportedly a reworked version of Tata's old 1.4-litre diesel unit and should return a healthy mileage of around 25Km/l. The Tata Zica will also be available with a new 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit, which is currently in use on the more premium Tata Bolt hatchback and Tata Zest sedan, although it may be re-tuned for the Zica. Both engine variants will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the possibility of an AMT variant on the Tata Zica reserved for the future.

Tata Motors has done well to make the Zica a.k.a 'Zippy Car' as modern as it can. The company plans to price it at Rs. 3.5 lakh -Rs. 4 lakh, consequently allowing the carmaker to target the segment that has been gaining traction in the country. There's no doubt that the Tata Zica will come loaded to the brim with features.
