Nissan India aims to have a 10 per cent share of the market by 2016. This was announced by Nitish Tipnis, director of marketing and sales, Hover Automotive India during the Nissan Sunny Automatic media drive. He also said that they are aiming to expand their dealerships from the current 95 to 300 by 2016.
Nitish announced that they will launch 10 new cars for the Indian market including the Datsun line up of vehicles by 2016. The first in this line up will be the facelifted Micra that will be launched with an automatic gearbox as well as in a cut price lower variant very shortly.
The Micra facelift is expected to be followed by the Sunny Automatic shortly. During the presentation, Nitish also mentioned their compact SUV as a part of the 10 car line up (to be based on the Duster) but did not reveal any details of about the vehicle.
On the Datsun line up, the Japanese automaker had already said previously that it will unveil the cars later this year and have an official launch during the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The car will be based on the previous generation Micra’s K12 platform. The car will be launch in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.
