Mercedes says Aston Martin tie-in expansion possible; may include platform sharing.
Daimler chief Dieter Zetsche has confirmed that his company is open to expanding Mercedes-Benz's tie-up with Aston Martin beyond the scope of the recently made deal.
According to the deal, Mercedes AMG would supply V8 engines and electrical architectures to Aston Martin in exchange of five percent of the non-voting shares in Aston. Zetsche has now said, "We will go for it and see how it develops."
Sources at both the companies have hinted that the deal could be extended into platform sharing, including an Aston Lagonda SUV based on the Mercedes-Benz GL. [/img]
