If you know how to drive a car, you can move around independently. Neither will you have to make use of the public transportation, nor will you have to depend on someone else, to pick or drop you. While driving is simple, parking is not, especially when the space is constricted. In fact, there are many drivers who feel parallel parking to be a very difficult task. We are here to help you out and make parking seem an easy process. Go through the lines below and get to know the steps on how to parallel park.

Learn How To Do Parallel Parking

  • First of all, you will have to pick a parking space, into which your car will fit easily.
  • Using the turn signal, indicate the direction of the parking spot.
  • In case a car is leaving the particular parking space, wait behind the spot.
  • When your parking space in empty, pull ahead. Do this until you are beside the car parked in front of the space.
  • Make sure that your rear bumper is even with that of the car parked in front of the space. At the same time, there should be two feet of road/space in-between.
  • Put the car in reverse and the moment the car starts moving, start backing up slowly. Turn the wheel as far as it will go toward the curb.
  • Keeping your speed at a slow level, back into the space.
  • The moment your car's front door is even with the rear bumper of the car beside you, start turning the wheel away from the curb.
  • Keep on turning the wheel away from the curb and backing slowly into the space.
  • Now, straighten out the wheel. Follow this with pulling the car forward or back in the space, as needed to center your car between those in front of and behind you.
  • Finally, make sure that your car is 6 to 8 inches from the curb, when you have parked.
Some Tips

  • While parking, always drive on a slow speed.
  • If you feel that parking space is tight, get the parking attendant to guide you
